about roberto

The moment has arrived. Your wedding day is fast approaching. You are anxious over every little detail. From the cake to the flowers to the wedding photos, everything has you excited. But perhaps nothing more than your wedding dress.

Your wedding dress is a representation of your personality. Through and through. But how can you choose a wedding dress that will not only look great in person but also for your wedding pictures? Well, we have a few tips to help you identify the best dress for you and your wedding photos.

Tip #1. Think About Your Venue

Before you buy that big ball gown, will it really mesh well with the surroundings at your outdoor venue? Will it look out of place in an outdoor vineyard? If you are going with an outdoor wedding, the best bet is to avoid a dress that has several delicate, easily torn pieces. After all, you don’t want your dress to end up tangled in a rose bush!

A larger, tulle-based dress might work well indoors instead. You won’t have to worry about picking up debris from the ground or surrounding area. Most brides like to keep their dress long after the wedding day, and if you do then you don’t want it ripped up and dirty. This will also affect the quality of your photos.

Tip #2. Think About How the Material Will Look in Your Photos

You might think that a big great big ball gown will look stunning in wedding photos, and it vey well may think about the logic behind your decision. If you are getting married in a warm climate or in summer, will the material weigh you down? If your photos are taken outdoors, you could find it difficult to get into the best poses.

Our recommendation is for light materials that are both comfortable and gorgeous. Silk is a great material to consider as is lace. Tulle is a great option if it is done sensibly. The last thing you want to do is pass out from the heat while taking romantic pictures.

Tip #3. Comfortable Footwear is a Must!

The dress isn’t the only aspect of your ensemble to worry about. Your footwear can also play a big role in the quality of your photos too. Once again, the environment you are getting married in has a lot to do with the type of clothing you wear, and this includes your footwear too.

For examples, while stilettos might be gorgeous for an indoor ceremony, they can cause serious problems walking down the isle if you’re getting married outdoors (they’re a big NO for beach weddings). Keep in mind you will have to wear your shoes all day long, while you talk to family, dance, and of course enjoy the day with your new spouse. You should be as comfortable as possible. We love ballet flats for this reason. You can also trade them out for your pictures to feel as dressed up as you like without sacrificing your style.

Regardless of what you decide to wear on this most important day of your life, all you really have to keep in mind is that you choose something that is special to you. Do what it is best for you and what you feel most comfortable with. However, these tips will help you choose comfortable options that work well with professional wedding photography. So, rest easy know that you can enjoy this special day and the rest of your wedding planning.
