This is a guest post from our friends at Bella Figura on tips on how to choose your wedding invitations.  Enjoy!

STYLE OF YOUR WEDDING INVITATIONS

Your wedding invitations set the tone for your wedding to come. It’s important to think about the style of your big day and how that will be reflected into your stationery.

Is the aesthetic traditional and elegant or more modern and clean? Make a list of a few adjectives that best describe your wedding and then begin your search for the perfect invitation to match. Traditional invitation designs typically feature script fonts, maybe a border, and a more neutral color palette. Whereas modern designs are often more playful with font choices and color.

PRINTING METHODS AND PAPER

Do you love the feeling of ink pressed into paper? If so, letterpress printing may be the best fit for you. Would you like a pop of shine? Consider adding foil stamping to your set. Are you looking for a more modern form of printing without texture? Maybe digital printing is the route for you.

There are an assortment of print method options as well as papers available to you. It’s important to do your research and find the best fit for your needs. Be sure to order samples from whatever company you are considering so that you can feel the paper thicknesses, see the variety of colors, and imagine how your very own suite might take shape.

ETIQUETTE

We recommend that you send your wedding invitations out 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding. Be sure to send them out even earlier if it’s a destination wedding.

At Bella Figura, it takes approximately a month from working one-on-one with a designer to receiving your order at your front door. Don’t forget to take turnaround time of any kind into consideration when setting your mail-by date. On the Bella Figura website, we also have an etiquette guide that will also help you draft wording in such a way that’s most appropriate for your wedding.
