What an incredible night I had yesterday at the WPPI Awards ceremony.
WPPI is the biggest international educational conference in the world for wedding and portrait photographers. Approximately 12,000 photographers attend to learn and keep pace with our changing industry. For the past 3 years I have entered my travel work in the informal album category. Our albums are judged based on standards in creativity, imagination and technique. There are many categories (wedding, commercial, engagement, etc) and each category is awarded 1st , 2nd and 3rd place.
This year was a a BIG win for me. I was awarded 1st place for my “Souls of Morocco” album and was called to the podium to give a speech. I started out by having the audience do a wave and ended thanking those who have supported me all these years. What a thrill to be in front of such a big audience.
There is a larger award which is given to only one photographer. The award is called the GRAND AWARD. It goes to the one album that is considered the best of all the albums. When they called my name, I couldn’t believe it. I won the GRAND AWARD! I feel so honored.
