This group of images were taken in a couple of places.
Some of them were taken in a small town of “Candelaria” the same day the people from town were celebrating the day of the virgin of the Candelaria. I was invited by one of the members of the community about a week ago, so I had to make a slight change to my travel plans to accommodate going back to the town for the party. It was well worth it as I got to see a small town´s festivities.
Other images from this group come from a session that I had with local people at the museum of indigenous art. It was one of those situations where if you don´t ask you will not get it… and I asked!! So what did I ask?
I visited the museum a few days ago and noticed the wonderful display of local clothing. The clothing was displayed in manikins and there were no photographs…
At the end of my visit I asked to speak with the person in charge and asked if they were interested in having some beautiful photographs of the clothing displayed, but with real people in them… (I had printed a few photos I had taken in the previous weeks and showed it to them). I said I would do it for free in exchange for credit in whatever publication the print them on and for them to let me use them for my own use. They immediately said yes and we started planning the sessions, which I did in 2 days.
It was such a good combination of their needs and my wants!!! I´m glad I asked.
